1. New diabetes course from the Utrecht Summer School

   This year the Utrecht Summer School is offering a new course on diabetes. The course will cover diabetes care in different countries, the ocular and systemic complications and their treatment, and the social impact of the disease.

2. New Swiss organisation to be launched in June

   A new organization ? the ?Swiss Society for Optometry? (optom.ch) - will be launched in June to promote optometry in Switzerland.

3. Conference in Ireland brings together Europe's optometry and optics professionals

   Over 230 people working in optometry and optics from 29 countries came together in Dublin, Ireland, from 20-22 April for the European Academy of Optometry and Optics' annual conference.

4. Academy Fellows announced at European conference

   Five optometrists have been awarded a Fellowship from the European Academy of Optometry and Optics in recognition of their commitment to the profession.

5. Academy conference: heading to Spain in 2013 and central or eastern Europe in 2014!

   Following the success of Dublin 2012, our recent conference, we are already organising venues for the next two conferences.
